The Academy of International Extended Reality (AIXR) is proud to announce the release of their brand new E-Learning platform, which is now available in beta form to Academy members.

Following guidance from the XR Steering Board, the Academy of International Extended Reality (AIXR) will release their new E-Learning platform today. The release comes with one full module of educational content: ‘Introduction to VR’, complete with over an hour and a half of video content, supporting materials, and tests.

The entry-level course is aimed to revolutionise the difficult step into XR, giving you the tools and knowledge to make the leap immediately. Those successful in the course will receive an Academy accredited certification that can be used to show your proficiency in immersive technology.

The platform is a part of AIXR’s wider not-for-profit remit to democratise careers in XR and reduce the skills gap that hinders the growth of the industry as a whole. Since its foundation over a year ago, the Academy has created several industry advisory groups, who have helped inform the direction of the E-Learning content.

Daniel Colaianni, CEO of AIXR, said “The skills gap is something that has been highlighted to us throughout the Academy’s endeavours. We really wanted to smoothen the introductory phase of XR, whether that’s bringing on staff unfamiliar with the industry or students looking at a prospective career in XR.”

Once the 6 week beta period is over, AIXR plans to launch the first module ‘Introduction to VR’ to everyone for free. From there, the Academy plans to expand on modules, which will range from industry spotlights to practical programming tutorials & more.
