After announcing that the event will be fully digital earlier this year, the Academy of International Extended Reality has announced that they are collaborating with VRChat and the VR community to deliver the Fourth International VR Awards across the world.

For Immediate Release – 8 June 2020 (International)

Following the announcement earlier this year that the Fourth International VR Awards will be hosted fully virtually, AIXR, The Academy of International Extended Reality, has announced an exciting partnership with VRChat that will bring their VR Awards experience to life.

The event on the 12 November will allow the VR Awards’ vast international audience to connect from across the globe using VR Headsets or desktop/PC. The night will continue to bring together the world’s most influential names in immersive technology, as well as offer an unforgettable first-of-its-kind experience for all attendees.

VRChat is one of the longest standing and most successful massively multiplayer virtual reality social platforms. As early as 2014, VRChat has built a passionate community who have influenced the development of the platform, creating an enormous library of avatars and worlds.

This community-first approach will be carried over to the VR Awards too – the Academy has already partnered with its industry titans and is now extending this invitation to talented creators from the VRChat and VR Awards community.

From worldbuilding and avatar creation to 3D animation and modelling, the Academy is seeking talented community Unity creators to work with. VR community members will be given the opportunity to leave their stamp on virtual reality history through the momentous event.

“Our primary goal for this VR Awards was to create the most impressive VR event experience to date – We are proud to be joined on this journey by our industry partners as well as talented creators and VR fans from across the world” – Daniel Colaianni, Chief Executive, AIXR
