The metaverse is still in its early stages, but it is already having a major impact on the video game industry. For example, Fortnite is set in a metaverse with over 250 million players.
Many developers are now creating games that take place in the metaverse. For example, the popular game Roblox is set in a metaverse, with over 30 million active monthly users.
This Insights Live session will investigate the current state of game development for the metaverse. Topics up for discussion will include the implications that the growth of the metaverse will have for game developers, particularly those in independent studios.

Aaron is an interactive entertainment design and production leader with 25+ years of experience with VR/AR, emerging tech & games, including roles at Walt Disney Imagineering, Sony, Activision and Two Bit Circus.
Aaron has worked on a wide variety of home and out-of-home entertainment projects for companies large and small. He also co-founded a pair of startups in China and the USA through which he produced numerous mobile games, virtual reality applications, and award-winning spatially-aware apps for Google Tango and Microsoft HoloLens.
Currently, he serves as Co-Chair of the VRARA LBE Committee, Vice Chair of the AIXR LBE Advisory Group, PGA New Media Council Member, and a passionate speaker on the topics of VR/AR/XR, location-based entertainment, Metaverse and interactive storytelling.
